Variance Application
A variance is used when a landowner wishes to construct a temporary or permanent structure within the right-of-way of a county-regulated drain. The drain right-of-way is measured from the center of a county-regulated tile or the top of the bank of an open ditch. The right-of-way extends 75' of each side of the drain or ditch. Examples of permanent or temporary structures include, but are not limited to a culvert in an open drain, a paved driveway, a fence, or a shed.
When finished, email the form to surveyorsoffice@dekalb.co.in.us or drop it off at the Surveyor's Office at 220 E. 7th St. in Auburn.
